Yesterday, for a company dinner with my expat colleagues in Kuala Lumpur, we decided to gather and have dinner at Shin Jjang Budae Jjigae located on Level 3 of NU Sentral, right connected to KL Sentral Station.

Before entering and sitting down, a clear menu board is available at the front for visitors who want to browse first.

The restaurant interior is quite spacious, tidy, and clean. The atmosphere is warm with a cashier counter at the front of the restaurant.

Ordered Menu: Special Sundubu Jjigae

For our main menu, we ordered the Special Sundubu Jjigae served in a large pot portion, accompanied by two bowls of warm rice.

Food setup served on the table

The contents of this Sundubu Jjigae were quite festive—ranging from ramyeon noodles, meat, tofu chunks, vegetables, to signature Korean soup broth.

Honest Review: Flavor & Atmosphere

Here is my honest review from dining here:

  • Price Range: Standard mall pricing in KL, ranging between RM 20 to RM 60. For the special portion we ordered, it cost around RM 30-something per person, which is still affordable for a dinner in a big shopping mall.
  • Flavor Review: Honestly, maybe I’m not that suitable for Korean food, or maybe the seasoning has been slightly adapted to Malaysian palates. The broth felt a bit mild and lacked kick in spiciness, even though we requested the spiciest version available haha.
  • Atmosphere & Vibe: But in terms of the place, honestly it’s super cozy and comfortable! We easily spent up to 2 hours here—chatting about many things, work banter, and fun catch-ups with expat friends.
Recommendation

Even though the broth flavor wasn’t punchy enough for palates that prefer bold spicy food, this restaurant is still recommended if you are looking for a comfortable company dinner or gathering spot in the KL Sentral area!
