Comment Guidelines
Last updated: 19 October 2026
Comments are a place to exchange experiences and ideas about travel, food, personal writing, books, and films. These guidelines apply across the shared English and Indonesian discussions.
Help the discussion
Stay relevant to the page, ask sincere questions, and explain constructive criticism. Respect cultural differences and disclose a commercial relationship when it could affect your recommendation.
Handle spoilers thoughtfully
For books and films, use the whole-comment spoiler option when your comment reveals an important plot point. Readers must choose to reveal a marked spoiler. Avoid placing the spoiler itself in your display name.
Respect firm boundaries
Do not post harassment, hateful or threatening material, impersonation, doxxing, spam, scams, malicious links, or another person’s private information. Plain-text comments are intended for conversation, not advertising or unsafe embeds.
Reporting
Use “Report comment” on a visible comment and choose the closest reason. Optional details should provide useful context without repeating private or harmful material. A report is a request for review; report volume alone does not automatically hide a comment.
Moderation
When D1 comments are enabled, allowed comments may publish after automated screening. Suspicious comments are held pending for explicit moderator review; rejected submissions are not published and retain no raw content. Moderators may hide, restore or remove comments, close discussions and apply abuse limits. All guestbook notes and replies require approval before public display. These guidelines do not promise a response time.
Privacy and identity
A submitted name and email do not prove identity or email ownership. The raw email is normalized only to create an email-derived SHA-256 Gravatar hash and is then discarded. The hash is public with the comment, is guessable rather than anonymous, and causes the reader’s browser to request an avatar from Gravatar. Guest browser identity, Turnstile, and retention are explained in the privacy policy.
Signed-in readers and guestbook
Optional Google reader sign-in, when configured, stores the provider account identifier, profile name, email and avatar URL. The profile name and avatar may appear with a visible submission; raw reader email is not a field in public comment or note responses. Guestbook posting requires reader sign-in and every note/reply is pre-moderated. Signing out or session expiry does not delete the stored reader identity. See the privacy policy for these separate flows and removal requests.
Reconsideration and removal requests
Guests cannot edit or delete their own comments in this release. To ask about a moderation decision or request removal, use one of the established social contact links on the About page and include the page and comment context. Do not send private information in a public comment. A typed email alone is not treated as proof of ownership.
